IT/NGO Projects : Moca Mobile Project

A new project that JQITC and CS Foundation has gotten involved in is the Moca Mobile project.

JQITC met with one of the main proponents, Mr. Leo Anthony Celi, on Sunday, September 6, at Cafe Adriatico in Cubao.

Other people who attended the meeting were: Mr. Chris Moses, a student from Massachsetts Institute of Technology, Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Ms. Rhia T. Ramirez, from Ayala Foundation Inc.,Mr. Michael R. Hansson from Integrated Microelectronics Inc., and doctors and developers from the UP National Telehealth center.

The Moca Mobile project is an ambitious project that will make use of technology to bring health services to the remote barangays.

The project was initiated by students and staff from MIT and Harvard. They picked the Philippines to pilot the first large scale implementation of the project.

The role of JQITC, together with APC, is to assign student interns and staff to study the Software, both on the cellphone, and on the server, so that we can customize the programs to Philippine requirements, and provide technical support for the implementation of the systems in the Philippines.
